Did you know that Ian Fleming, creator of James Bond, was part of the Allied team that cracked the Nazi’s Enigma code? Join us to explore the true tales that shaped and inspired some of our most famous and beloved books. The lives, loves, tragedies, motivations and quirky facts behind such books as Charles Dickens and Oliver Twist and J.M. Barrie and Peter Pan. There are also unexpected and moving stories behind some unlikely books such as Noah Webster’s Dictionary and Emily Post’s Etiquette. These and many other stories behind the stories will be revealed.

Your Instructor
Melanie Deutsch, former fiction specialist for the Cuyahoga County Public Library, has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Spanish from Cleveland State University and a Master of Arts in Library Science from Case Western Reserve University. With 27 years experience in public libraries, she has presented workshops for national and state library organizations and has facilitated a local book discussion group for over 20 years. She has presented courses for the ILR on nonfiction books, mysteries and other book related topics.
