Historic Churches (different churches from last year's trip and no Lakeview): April 16, 2024 Tuesday Cost: $89.00 per person
SOLD OUT - - WAIT LIST ONLY
Enjoy a unique and inspirational tour as Cleveland holds a wealth of riches in museum-quality churches built by the many ethnic groups that came here and brought their religious heritage and devotion with them. At each site, we’ll have a presentation by a congregation member about the fascinating history behind these remarkable holy places and gain a glimpse into the lives of the people who built them, the sacrifice it took and how each Church serves its current congregation.
We will start by seeing historic St. Stanislaus Shrine Church, in Slavic Village. This church highlights the spectacular architectural elements that make it awe inspiring and we’ll also learn why this church was Never supposed to be built! Next, we’ll visit St. Theodosius Russian Orthodox Church in Tremont. This unique Icon-style church played an integral role in the “Deer Hunter” movie.
We’ll enjoy a wonderful lunch at the Pier W Restaurant, an elegant Cleveland landmark. You’ll have your choice of a chicken or fish entrée – chosen at tableside – as part of the white linen experience along with a city skyline view. In the afternoon we’ll tour Old Stone Church, the oldest building on Public Square and we’ll complete our day at St. Patrick’s Church in Ohio City.
Depart at 8:30 am./return at 5:00 pm. Registration/refund deadline is March 27, 2024.
