Have you ever wondered why hurricanes happen? How snow clouds form? What makes the wind blow? How forecasters decide what to say? Join us to examine these questions and much more as we look at the factors that make weather, from global patterns to tomorrow’s rain, from El Nino to the polar vortex. We’ll also check out some human events where weather played a crucial role in the outcome. Whatever you’ve wondered about weather, we’re hoping you’ll find it here.

Mare Matthews’ lifelong love of trees began among the oaks of Lakewood. She surprised her dad when she rejected one college campus because …there aren’t any trees.” She earned a degree in Natural Resources with a major in Forest Management from The Ohio State University (which had sufficient trees), then worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources before turning to teaching science. Mare is eager to share her love and knowledge of trees with the ILR community.
