Course Description:
Did you ever wonder what the big deal is about bourbon? Customers line up in parking lots hours before deliveries of bourbon arrive at liquor stores, bourbon tastings and flights are all the rage, and prices have skyrocketed, especially on the secondary market. This course will provide an overview of the basics of bourbon, its history and how to begin your own bourbon journey. An important thing to remember? There is no right or wrong way to enjoy bourbon.
Along with the historical background and essential information about bourbon, the presenters will provide stories from their visits to several Kentucky Bourbon Trail distilleries, Louisville, Bardstown (home of the annual Bourbon Festival) and Lexington, including suggestions for planning your own visit to Kentucky. Guest speakers and an optional bourbon event will be discussed in week one.

About Nancy Jirousek
Nancy and Dennis Jirousek
Nancy Jirousek retired from Baldwin Wallace University as the Senior Director of Transfer and Military Services in 2024 and also served as the liaison to ILR. She and her husband Dennis began their love of bourbon more than 30 years ago and have visited the Kentucky Bourbon Trail and Bourbon Festival numerous times, well before bourbon became the sensation it is today. Dennis is a retired financial planner providing the “color commentary” for this course, sharing many adventures from their bourbon experience.
