Glass fusing combines both scientific knowledge with an exciting art form. This class will teach how to create fused glass designs using compatible glass pieces in a kiln. Fused glass jewelry will be made using a small kiln in a microwave oven. Students will learn the history of glass and types of modern glass. You will make several projects and work with fusing materials and techniques. Glass used in projects will be precut. The class will stress safety when handling glass. It is recommended that students wear safety glasses and soft Kevlar gloves when working with glass. These are available locally, e.g. at Walmart or Home Depot and can be ordered online. For further information or questions, you can contact Bill at rockyriver.william.bailey@gmail.com.
